Epineri Boleilovoni 1961 ~ 2019
Epi's Legacy - and how it all started

Epi's Tours began in 1995., as an initiative of Epineri Boleilovoni, an advisor to the Chief of Lovoni, from the Nariova Clan.  Traditionally, wherever the Chief goes, the eldest member of the Noriova Clan also goes.   The name Boleilovoni (Bole-i-Lovoni) means Last Man Standing to protect Lovoni.

Epi was legendary in Fiji, and with visitors from all over the world, for his knowledge on traditional medicinal plants and wild foods which were, and still are essential to the indigenous Fijians (iTaukei).

Epi saw so many visitors to his island home of Ovalau in Fiji, and realized that he had a wealth of knowledge, which it was his duty to pass on and share with the world.  He saw himself in his nephew Josevata (Joe), and took him on many tours, teaching him and guiding him in the traditional ways.  Joe now continues Epi's legacy, sharing knowledge of the forest and its treasures with visitors.

Lovoni has a turbulent past, in which through a harrowing tale, you will learn how the Lovoni people were the only Fijians to ever be sold into slavery.  The story lives in the minds of the Lovoni people, and Epi felt it his duty to pass down the history, so that slavery in the world will be ended forever.
